Well well! We give a massive thanks to all the crazy people who descended on Kelburn for the amazing Pschedelic Forest Disco 2012. It was a massive success with the site looking quite amazing, some new areas added, some great performances from all the bands and DJs, and of course our wonderful punters. Plus of course it was a total sell-out. Well done everyone, can’t wait until next year!

But onwards and upwards for now – we have bigger fish to fry. The Kelburn Garden Party 2012 is just 6 weeks away now, and tickets are selling very quickly – we have high hopes of another sell-out. We are working hard to deliver another unique festival, brewing up new mapcap ideas and site decor. If you thought the Psychedelic Forest Disco was crazy, wait til you see the Garden Party!

Psychedelic Forest Disco – Times & Tings!

The Psychedelic Forest disco has sold out. There may be a small number of returns available on the door but it will be a handful at most so please don’t travel to Kelburn without a ticket. Don’t miss out on The Garden Party – ticket available here.

Well well the magical night of crazy antics that is the Psychedelic Forest Disco is almost upon us! There is literally a handful of tickets left which will probably be gone by tomorrow lunchtime, so you are one of the lucky ones coming to share the love this weekend, here are the timings for the two stages, and also some tips and advice for happy clubbers…

1. It’s bloomin’ fancy dress so use your imagination and dress fancy!! Don’t let the side down kids, we’re all going to look amazing!
2. The party runs from 6.30pm to 4am – so please pace yourselves and eat some food and drink some water.
3. Please respect your fellow party-goer, and BE KIND TO YOUR MIND!
4. It will be cold in the dead of night, and it might rain too, so bring appropriate protection.
5. Use the bins provided!
6. Beware of the Zombies!!

The ace Peenko blog recently asked the Director of Kelburn Garden Party, David Boyle, to sum up the festival. A tough job, but we think you’ll like his response:

What makes Kelburn so special?

The quick answer is the sheer mind blowing beauty of the site and the creativity that it inspires, but really I think it’s a combination of ingredients that come together to form an utterly unique event. Set in a lush country park by the sea, Kelburn is a wonderland like no other festival site and is the inspiration for The Garden Party. With a Graffiti Castle and the islands of the west coast as the backdrop and a dramatic wooded glen through the middle, with waterfalls to swim in and hidden gigs, workshops and outdoor theatre tucked away to discover, there is no festival experience that can match it. The programming is inclusive, open minded and always exceptional but after 3 years we, like our festival fans, take that for granted. With a focus on supporting the best in Scottish talent, there’s everything from swing jazz and rock and roll to cutting edge dubstep and underground DJs, acoustic sessions and ceilidhs to indie and hip hop. This sensory overload is enriched through details in magical lighting installations, floating lanterns, barrel fires and painstaking décor and underpinning it all there is an intangible yet unmissable vibe of creativity and collaboration, energy and love, and unadulterated fun. Kelburn is only great, can only be great, because of the team of artists, contributors and volunteers who insist on creating the best festival in Scotland. That care and hard work is easy to sense but difficult to describe. You’ll have to come and find out for yourself.

What am I most looking forward to see?

There is so much I can’t wait to see this year but the most magical moments for me, and what makes Kelburn Garden Party so special are the secret hidden gigs: The orchestra in the walled gardens, the ska band in the glen, or the drum circle high on the hill looking out over the islands. The intimate atmosphere at these one off sumptuous locations is overwhelming and not to be missed – if you can find them! In truth though, when people manage to transcend the mundanities and weariness of life and become truly alive, you can see it in there eyes and feel it lifting the mood around them. I don’t know any event that is as friendly or as fun as Kelburn and that’s entirely thanks to our festival fans, so really, it’s them whom we are most look forward to seeing.

Tickets Selling Fast & Line-Up Complete

Greetings fellow party-goers! We’ve been hard at work at Kelburn Castle getting the park ready for Easter, and plotting numerous treats for the Garden Party. It’s all getting very exciting! Tickets are selling faster than ever for this year’s festival, and we have high hopes of a complete sell-out. We are resurrecting many of the lovely treats you all enjoyed last year, such as the Secret Forest Project (pictured), the pop-up gigs in the glen and gardens, mini-tennis, breakfast sessions and such. We’re also adding some new bits, such as the late night folk tent and dedicated Kids Zone. The line-up of music is complete and will be announced later this week.

Things are also hotting up big time for the Psychedelic Forest Disco – taking place on the 12th May. We’re devising some wicked ideas for this, just to mess with your fragile minds. Tickets for this are also flying out the door – it’s shaping up to be another legendar night in the woods!

Good morning lovely fellow humans! This is a quick announcement to say that the Earlybird Tickets for the Garden Party 2012 have sold out, but due to the high demand we are extending them for another two days to give you a chance to get your mitt’s on some. After Wednesday the price will rise from £55 to £65+BF.

The Garden Party 2012 – First Line-Up Announcement!

Hello everyone! We’re very happy to announce the first lot of amazing acts that will be gracing our wonderful stages and pleasing your ear-holes at this summer’s Garden Party. Once again we’ve cast our net far and wide and picked out a diverse array of talent from around Scotland and the UK. From the psychedelic fuzz-pop of The Phantom Band, the afrofunk urgency of United Vibrations, the virtuoso folk of The Paul McKenna Band, the expansive electronica of DJ Food to festival staples like Bombskare and The Banana Sessions, the bittersweet bassline jazz of Submotion Orchestra, the deep tribal techno of Substance Audio and oh so much more…there will be something here for everyone. In due course we will be revealing more names along with full info, pictures and videos, but for now its a good old list.

Entertainment is spread across numerous intimate stages, nooks and crannies, just waiting to be discovered at your leisure: The Viewpoint Stage overlooking the burn to Kelburn Castle, The Village Square, at the hub of it all, The Pyramid Stage secluded in the trees, the dance area in The Tall Trees, the Secret Forest with its many hidden delights, the Late Night Ceilidh Tent, The Formal Gardens, and much more besides.

Psychedelic Forest Disco 2012!

One of the highlights for us this year was undoubtedly the 1st Viewpoint Session back in May, or the “Psychedelic Forest Disco”, as it has become known. So we’re going to do it again! And this time with added Zombie!

The date will be Saturday 12th May, and will feature a storming line-up of acts and of course the Electrikal Soundsystem. Tickets will come on sale in the New Year, this is just a wee heads up so you can get it in your diaries.

We should also tell you that super-earlybird tickets for the Garden Party 2012 (31st June + 1st July) are selling fast, and will be available for just another couple weeks.

We’ll…that’s us done for 2011, and what a mind-blowing year it’s been. We held 5 events: The Garden Party, The Brazilian Carnival Weekend and 3 Viewpoint Sessions. Every event was just incredible, the music consistently fantastic and the site has never looked so good. We again must give due thanks and praise to everyone who came and supported us at Kelburn this year, to all the crew (you know who you are) and the staff and volunteers at Kelburn Country Centre for their support and patience.

Most of all however, the events at Kelburn would not have happened without the sheer talent and enthusiasm of an enormous army of bands, performers, DJs, dancers, VJs and creative types: we salute you. Below you will find a roll call of everyone who performed at Kelburn in 2011. It’s an incredible list, and most important of all, 99% of artists who took part were from Scotland. They represent every facet of our music scene, and it has been an honour and privalage to invite them to come and perform with us. Garden Party 2012 – Dates & Super Earlybird Tix!

As we draw towards the close of a fantastic summer of events and parties at Kelburn in 2011, with just the final Viewpoint Session to go, we are happy to announce the dates and first batch of tickets for the 2012 Garden Party. It will take place on Saturday 30th June and Sunday 1st July, with a warm-up party on the Friday night. The format will follow roughly that of this year’s spectacular festival, no doubt with plenty tweaks, surprises and additions.

You can now buy “Super Earlybird” tickets for next years Party at the bargain price of £45+BF. There is only a limited batch of these, so if you want to guarantee your place next year and save a bundle, get involved now! The capacity will be remaining the same as this year, and judging by the feedback we had, we’ll be selling out way in advance, we hope! Buy TICKETS HERE.
