The Phantom Band hail from Glasgow with a brand of proto-electro folk rock untreated in modern music circles. They are signed to cult label Chemical Underground, and hit national heights in 2011 with their absurdly good sophomore album, “The Wants”
Known for their elusive tendencies – they appeared in disguise and changed their name for countless gigs, with pseudonyms of Wooden Trees, Robert Louis Stevenson, Tower of Girls and Robert Redford – the band represents a mixture of 6 completely distinct personalities. Their backgrounds are an amalgamation of styles, genres, clicks, and howls… listen and decide for yourself.
“Unfurling like a Midwest cult proclaiming their warped practices to be harbingers of rock ‘n’ roll excess, it’s hard to believe these chaps are from Scotland. Imagine Alabama 3 jamming with Battles and you are getting warm. ‘Burial Sounds’ is as chilling as the muffled scrape of wet earth being piled onto your freshly-nailed coffin lid.”Clash Magazine
