Dear Kelburn Campers,
We have spent the last 2 weeks reflecting on the recent announcement from the Scottish Government and their roadmap out of the pandemic, as well as taking advice from various stakeholders. It is with a heavy heart that we have come to the inescapable conclusion that Kelburn Garden Party 2021 cannot go ahead as planned.
Under the current strategic framework the earliest date Scotland will move to Level 0 restrictions is the end of June. Level 0 still implies that large scale events like ours will need to operate at reduced capacity and adhere to social distancing and other guidelines – none of which have been clearly laid out yet, indeed we may not be allowed to go ahead at all.
At Kelburn we only ever want to put on the best, most magical festival we can dream up – where you can truly be yourself, forget the worries and strains of the outside world and spend a weekend with us living your best life. However, it is clear under the current lockdown plan that we won’t be able to host such an event this summer, and from a public health and financial viewpoint it would be irresponsible for us to try to do so. After much soul-searching we have decided that our only option is to postpone the next Kelburn Garden Party until 1st – 4th July 2022.
This will allow us to fully focus on coming back stronger next year when we can put on the very best Kelburn you can imagine, with fresh ideas and surprises for a new era, where can come together to celebrate life, music and culture safely, without the shadow of the pandemic hanging over us.
We are extremely grateful to the Scottish Government for their financial support, but the reason we’re still here now is because so many of you believe in and support Kelburn, and your choice to roll your tickets over to this year helped us survive a very precarious 12 months.
So We’re asking you to hold tight a little longer and we will see you all again in the magical glen and woodlands of Kelburn in 2022. Further information will be sent to ticket holders directly, but please get in touch at info [at] kelburnarts.com if you have any questions or want more information.
Once again we would like to take this opportunity to send our love to all of those affected by Covid-19 and especially to the amazing people at the NHS and all the essential workers who are keeping the rest of us safe and supplied.
Finally, we thank each of you from the bottom of our hearts for your support in our community. The entire festival team want to express how much your messages of love and support have meant to us. Kelburn is such a loving, exciting, and magical place, and we can’t wait to see you all here again under the stars in happier circumstances.
Stay Safe & Big Love,
Dave & the Kelburn Team
