From 2014 when you buy tickets we need you answer a few short and non-personal questions so it’s only fair that we explain why. Your answers help us make the events better, below are just a few examples of what your answers help us to plan.
Gender?
Knowing the gender ratio split helps us to book appropriate sanitation facilities. For example we need to provide 1 cubicle per 100 females or 1 cubicle per 500 males plus a urinal for every 150 males.
Age?
Knowing the age distribution of guests allows us to plan all manner of things and it’s essential for funding applications. A grant would increase our music and entertainment budget without raising ticket prices or affecting our independence.
Where you live?
Knowing this allows us to plan buses, add extra routes when we have enough guests coming from a particular location, warn public services about impending extra demand and liaise with local authorities about potential issues with the roads.
How you’ll be travelling?
Space is always an issue at Kelburn so making sure we have a big enough car park is a constant concern. We also send shuttle buses to meet popular trains so it’s good to know how big those buses should be.
What will you be staying in?
Regulations will not allow us to mix vehicles and tents in the same field so we have to know how many people will be staying in camper vans or tents or elsewhere entirely. Without this information we mis-allocate fields and possibly have to turn away camper vans or cramp too many tents into a field.
Dietary requirements?
We’re very proud of the food vendors that come to Kelburn, we think it’s some of the best food in Scotland. Knowing the percentage of omnivores, pescatarians, vegetarians, fruitarians, etc. allows us to book an appropriate spread of food to cover all preferences.
Your privacy
Privacy is becoming a big issue which is why we want to explain the questions to you. Firstly, it’s important you understand that although you give your name and contact details and answer the questions in the same form we use your answers anonymously. We need to know how many people will be sleeping in tents so we have a big enough camping field but it’s irrelevant who those people are. We turn your answers into statistics, we do not keep files on individuals.
In short, we don’t want to invade your privacy. We certainly don’t share or sell this information to 3rd parties. Your answers help us make the events at Kelburn better, thank you for you cooperation.
