The Clearing at the Monument

For the first time in Kelburn history The Monument will be open after dark and will also have a new bar service. To celebrate we have swtiched things up here and presenting a new folk and Scottish trad stage… The Gathering.

From the old Germanic word ‘volk’, meaning ‘of the people’, and ‘belonging to the people’, ‘Folk’ music, is the cultural music defined by a group or region.

Nestled deep in the Kelburn Glen amidst the Garden Party festivities this July, you’ll find a new folk stage and bar: The Clearing at The Monument, where songs, stories, and sonic traditions unite in a gathering of likeminded forest wanderers. Through threads of live performances in an intimate and cosy nook of the Glen, immersion is at the heart of the experience in this new and captivating addition to the festival. 

Curated by Lee McGilvray, Scots Folk artist Flew The Arrow and independent organiser through Gathering South Sessions, come hither and gather round where there’ll be songs in the air and roots in the ground as we feature an ethereal blend of acts from the many faces of Folk music, and from Scotland and beyond. As well as a full programme each day, there will be an open session each night after dark as we open up this space at night for the first time.
