Bikini Body are your favourite DJ’s favourite punk band. The five-piece from Edinburgh come hotly tipped by eclectic Glasgow institution Optimo Music, having released two records on offshoot Optimo Music Rocks. Support from Optimo, and the guidance of the late JD Twitch, were formative in shaping the band’s current trajectory, developing a sound that is dancier than punk and punkier than dance.
Their influences range from no-wave icons ESG and Liquid Liquid, to the danceable punk of Viagra Boys and Warmduscher, via the post-punk experimentation of Squid, with a vocal delivery inspired by The Slits, Bush Tetras, and X-Ray Spex.
