Oedipus and The Mama’s Boys are an octet based in Edinburgh, whose sound blends raw post-punk energy with experimental noise rock textures. Kitted out with guitar, bass, saxophone, violin, drums, synth and trumpet, their sound is chaotic, (sometimes) melodic, and “completely unlike anyone else.” The band draws influence from genre heavyweights such as IDLES, Gilla Band, Squid, Maruja and Black Country, New Road.
Known for their intense live performances, including impressive strobe shows and forays into the crowd, the band have played several notable sets across Edinburgh and Glasgow, including a sold out Sneaky Pete’s headline and a statement set at King Tut’s.
With a lineup that pushes the boundaries of post-punk and a sound that defies convention, Oedipus and the Mamas Boys are carving out a bold new space in the UK’s underground music scene.
