Since the 1980s, Gilles Peterson has been a pivotal figure in the club scene, renowned for his genre-defying approach to music with jazz at its core. As one of the UK’s most iconic DJs, he has spent over 40 years shaping music trends as a radio presenter, club DJ, producer, and festival curator. His work has influenced DJs and artists around the world and earned him the enduring admiration of listeners.
Acid Jazz, Talkin’ Loud, Brownswood Recordings, Worldwide FM, We Out Here Festival – just some of Gilles Peterson’s projects over the years.
Gilles’ youthful curiosity for new talent, his endless “sesrch for the perfect beat” and his attitude towards community in music has been a massive influence to us at Kelburn as we have shaped our events over the years. And there is no doubt that without the work and passion he has put into the scene, the new event would not be possible.
So it is a huge honour to welcome Gilles Peterson to Kelburn for the first time to play a 2 hour DJ alongside his regualar MC, General Rubbish (aka Galliano).
